Social Studies
Our program covers a wide range of fascinating topics related to human society, history, geography, economics, and government. Our curriculum is designed to help students develop critical thinking skills and gain a deeper understanding of cultural diversity, political systems, and current events. By exploring different perspectives and analyzing data, our students learn to form informed opinions and become active, engaged members of their communities.
Science
Our program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the three main branches of science: biology, chemistry, and physics. Through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on laboratory experiments, students learn about the fundamental principles and concepts behind each field, including the properties of matter, the study of living organisms, and the nature of energy and motion. Our curriculum is designed to foster critical thinking skills and an appreciation for the scientific method, preparing students for success in college and beyond.
Math
Our program builds on the foundational math concepts that students have learned in earlier grades and covers a wide range of topics, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and statistics. Through problem-solving and logical reasoning, students develop critical analytical and quantitative skills that are essential for success in a variety of fields, including science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers. Our curriculum is designed to challenge and engage students at every level, preparing them for college and beyond.
English Language Arts
Our program offers students the opportunity to explore a diverse range of literary genres, including poetry, drama, and fiction. Through close reading and analysis, students delve into the themes, characters, and settings of classic works, as well as contemporary literature. By developing their writing and communication skills, students learn to express their thoughts and ideas effectively and gain a deeper appreciation for the power of language and storytelling. Our curriculum is designed to cultivate critical thinking and creativity, preparing students for success in college and beyond.

Physical Education
Our program offers students the opportunity to engage in a variety of physical activities, including team sports, individual fitness, and outdoor pursuits. Through active participation, students learn about the benefits of regular physical exercise, including improved health and well-being. Our program also emphasizes the principles of sportsmanship and teamwork, helping students develop important social and interpersonal skills. By building their physical fitness and developing healthy habits, our students are equipped with the tools they need to maintain a healthy lifestyle long after they leave high school.
Music
Our program offers students the opportunity to explore the world of music through the study of music theory, history, and performance. Through instruction on a variety of musical instruments and vocal techniques, students develop their creative and technical skills, and may have the opportunity to perform in concerts and competitions. Our program emphasizes the importance of collaboration and teamwork, as students work together to create beautiful music and develop their ability to perform at the highest level. By participating in our music program, students develop a lifelong appreciation for the power of music and its ability to connect people and communities.
ENL
English as a New Language
The ENL program, a volunteer-based program, at Living Word supports our English Language Learners as they acquire conversational language to succeed socially and as they strive to achieve independence in academic language. We understand that learning English within the school context takes perseverance and even courage. We value our ELLs, their families, native languages, and cultures, which enrich our school culture.
